PROFESSOR EROL TAYMAZ

Professor Erol Taymaz graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1982. He received his Master’s degree from the Department of Economics at METU in 1985 and his Ph.D. in Economics from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), Ohio, USA, in 1989. Between 1982 and 1985, he worked as a Research Engineer at Aselsan Inc.; from 1985 to 1989, he served as a Research Assistant at CWRU; and from 1989 to 1992, he worked as a Researcher at the Industrial Research Institute (IUI) in Stockholm, Sweden. He has also served as a consultant to the Turkish Statistical Institute, TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), and the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye.

He has been a visiting scholar at Université Panthéon–Assas (Paris), Université Montesquieu Bordeaux IV (Bordeaux), Universidad de Deusto (San Sebastián), and the Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden). Since 1992, Erol Taymaz has been a faculty member at METU. His research interests include industrial and technology policies, labor market policies, industrial dynamics, the economics of small firms, technical efficiency and productivity estimation, evolutionary economics, impact analysis, and microsimulation. He is also a member of the Science Academy.
