Prof. Sercan Özcan

Professor Sercan Özcan is a Professor of Innovation and Technology Management and serves as the Associate Head of Research and Innovation at the University of Portsmouth. He has published over 30 articles in top-tier journals and international conferences, and has received multiple awards in recognition of his excellence in research and teaching. He has secured over £600,000 in funding for collaborative research projects with public and private sector partners, where he has applied his expertise in data science and text mining to deliver solutions in innovation intelligence, strategy development, and product design.

His research focuses on the analysis of large-scale datasets—including patent documents, social media, and academic publications—to support innovation management and policy development. He is among a select group of researchers employing novel methodologies to examine emerging technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, and nanotechnology. His work contributes to the creation of technology roadmaps, foresight studies, and patent analytics that inform strategic decision-making.
